On Tuesday, October 24th, there will be launch of a major campaign to ‘Keep Transit Public’. A lot of our members take transit to work and the cost of transit has been on the rise. With the P3’s that Metrolinx is planning, the cost will only go further up as private corporations make profits. Join us in the morning between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. at 65 Front St. W., Toronto.
On Wednesday, October 25h, join us to support our members at the Colleges. The College Faculty will be having a rally at 11:00 a.m. at 900 Bay St, (Bay & Wellesley). Key issues in the strike are the fight for fairness, equal pay and job security for contract faculty, more full-time faculty positions, a legitimate voice for students, faculty and staff in how our colleges are run, and higher quality education for 500,000 college students across Ontario. Supporting these actions is important in raising the bar for all OPSEU locals, and a great way to engage local activists and give them a taste of mass picketing and supporting a major province-wide strike.
On Monday, November 6th, there is a We Own It rally & info picket against the Annual P3 Conference of the Canadian Council for Public–Private Partnerships from 12 noon at the southwest corner of Nathan Phillips Square. Please organise a group from your local and bring flags and your spirit to this event.
